From 13 to 15 December 2022, four members of the Faculty of Education at the National University of Laos, Dean Sithane SOUKHAVONG, Ph.D., Vice-Dean Khamseng THALANGSY, Ph.D., Dr. Anuothay SOUVANDUANE of Head of the Academic Affairs Department, and Dr. Kethsana KANYASAN of Head of the Education Quality Management Department, visited the Faculty of Education and the affiliated school of Shinshu University.

The National University of Laos (NUOL) is the only national university, and the Faculty of Education is a center of educational practice and research and produces human resources for educational administration in Laos. Since 2009, NUOL has been developing and implementing 'Ecohealth Education' to promote the Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) on the point of environmental and health issues through international joint research conducted by Associate Professor Sachi Tomokawa et al. at the Faculty of Education of our University. The Ecohealth Education developed through this joint research is currently adopted in all institutions for Teacher Training in Laos.

Since FY2021, our Faculty of Education has been involved in the research project 'EDU-Port Japan', which is a public-private, nationwide initiative to proactively introduce Japanese-style education overseas, a project of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), as part of the Research to verify the challenges and possibilities for development of Japanese-style school that contributes to the SDGs [Laos, Cambodia, Nepal, Bangladesh, Niger, Ghana and Kenya]. This visit was organized as part of this project, to improve the teaching methods of Ecohealth Education currently being developed and obtain tips for future introduction into junior and senior high school education in Laos.

During their stay, they visited Prof. Muramatsu, Dean of the Faculty of Education, observed health education, classroom, school lunch, and cleaning activity at our affiliated school, and conducted international exchange activities in English class by introducing the culture and education of Laos.
