On Thursday, February 12, 2026, the Institute for Aqua Regeneration (ARG) of Shinshu University participated in an exhibition held alongside the Emperor’s Birthday Reception in Penang, Malaysia, hosted by the Consulate-General of Japan. In collaboration with Toyohashi University of Technology, the ARG introduced advanced technologies such as water purification and green hydrogen production. The booth attracted numerous visitors, including Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and Consulate-General of Japan Shinya Machida, highlighting strong local interest in water resource challenges.
On the following day, Friday, February 13, a delegation from Shinshu University, led by Professor Katsuya Teshima, Director of the ARG, visited the School of Chemical Engineering at the Engineering Campus of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) to discuss research and educational collaboration in the water sector. Both universities, which signed an academic exchange agreement in August 2025, explored synergies in materials science and water treatment technologies, identifying potential for joint research to address regional challenges.
This initiative is part of Shinshu University’s ARG efforts under the J-PEAKS program, aiming to build a sustainable ecosystem through “Earth-positive” innovations in materials science, including water purification and green hydrogen technologies.
