On October 7, 2025, an opening ceremony for the Shinshu University Satellite Office and ARG-PPC Joint Water Research Laboratory was held at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand.
Shinshu University and Chulalongkorn University first signed an inter-university academic exchange agreement in 2013. Since then, the two universities have developed active educational and research exchanges, including student and laboratory exchanges, collaborative online international learning courses, and participation in international symposia hosted by Chulalongkorn University. These sustained efforts have led to the establishment of this satellite office.
Since 2020, a research team led by Distinguished Professor Teshima of the Institute for Aqua Regeneration (ARG) at Shinshu University has been advancing joint research with the Petroleum and Petrochemical College (PPC) at Chulalongkorn University in the field of materials science. In particular, they have jointly developed materials that address challenges related to water, the environment, and energy. To further expand educational and research collaboration in areas such as water treatment, batteries, and biomass recycling, the “ARG-PPC Joint Water Research Laboratory” was established on the same day. This new facility is expected to strengthen joint research activities, promote co-authored publications, and facilitate collaborative grant applications.
On the same day, a signing ceremony was also held for a research exchange agreement between ARG at Shinshu University and four institutions of Chulalongkorn University: the Petroleum and Petrochemical College (PPC), Aquatic Resources Research Institute, Faculty of Science, and the Excellence Center on Hazardous Substance Management. This agreement is expected to further accelerate and deepen research collaboration between the two universities.
