Shinshu University, mainly through the research laboratory of Professor Masayoshi Kamijo in Kansei Engineering Course, Faculty of Textile Science and Technology, carried out collaborative research with Asahi Kasei Fibers Corporation (hereafter referred to as Asahi Kasei Fibers), one of the operating companies of the Asahi Kasei Group in the field of fibers and chemicals. One of the topics is the comfort evaluation of face masks.
Face masks are skin care products that are applied to the surface of the face and include face lotion, etc., to refresh the skin. Asahi Kasei Fibers has developed a regenerated cellulosic continuous-filament nonwoven fabric (product name “Bemliese”) made from cotton linters (vellus short fibers that enclose cotton seeds) for use as a material in skin care products. The development of face masks that can be comfortably used by consumers is being undertaken utilizing its material properties, such as good adhesion, extensibility, etc.
