The ceremony was held in the University Putra Malaysia (UPM) headquarters building. Members of the Shinshu University alumni who are currently working at local companies and Japan embassy also participated in that event. Vice-President of Shinshu University (SU) (in charge of International Affairs), Prof. Kiyoshi Tanaka and Vice-Chancellor of UPM, Prof Datin Paduka Dr. Aini Ideris both agreed that they will further enhance their cooperation in education and research onwards.

From January of 2017, more than 50 students from SU have been dispatched to UPM in 6 educational programs. Also, the interactions among researchers between the two universities are active. These activities have been realized with great support from Professor of UPM, Prof. Dr. Norhisam Misron, an alumni from SU.
