- Yoshinori SEKI, Ph.D. Professor (Law), Head of Global Team
Dr Seki was a research fellow of Birkbeck School of Law, University of London, in 2017. His current research project addresses "The Idea of Communism and Legal Theory: A critique of neoliberal government". This project is supported by a Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science (2018-2025) grant.

Hideki SAKAI, Ed.D, Professor (English Education), Vice Dean of the Faculty
Dr Sakai received his doctoral degree from Temple University, Japan. His research interests include second language interactional studies, psycholinguistic aspects of listening and speaking, second language learning motivation, and teaching English as a foreign language. He has written academic research papers for domestic and international journals and has published several Japanese books on teaching English in Japan and research methodology.

Ayako ONO, Ph.D. Associate Professor (History of Art)
Dr Ono received an M.Phil. and Ph.D. from the University of Glasgow, Scotland, UK. Her research interest is in the field of cross-cultural exchange between the West and Japan. She recently published her second book in English, Whistler and Artistic Exchange between Japan and the West: After Japonisme in Britain (Routledge, 2023).
Shinshu University Research Directory - Hiroki YAMAMOTO, Ph.D. Associate Professor (English Education)
Dr Yamamoto started his teaching career in 2015 as a Fulbright scholar at the Department of World Languages, Casper College, USA. At Shinshu University, he teaches English education and intercultural understanding. His paper on a practical English-speaking test he developed for use Japanese high schools won the Award for Outstanding Journal Articles from The Japan Association for Language Education and Technology in 2021.

Kampei HAYASHI, MA. Associate Professor (Comparative Education)
Mr Hayashi's research focuses on educational reform trends worldwide, with a particular emphasis on Nordic education. He is especially interested in the phenomenon of Education Export, exploring its market dynamics and educational implications. He has received national and international recognition from educational research societies, including the WERA 2025 Most Innovative Poster Award, the ECER 2015 ERC Best Poster Award, and the Young Scholar Award of the Japan Educational Research Association.

Colleen DALTON, MTS, MA. Associate Professor (Center for Global Education and Collaboration)
Ms Dalton, a native of the United States, taught literature, gender, and language courses in the Philippines for several years before moving to Nagano in 1997. At Shinshu University, she teaches English language and language education courses and is particularly interested in L2 writing development.
