When the environment changes significantly, not only electric robots like ASIMO but also hydraulic robots like BigDog are needed. However, model-based control, which is being established for electric robots, cannot be established for hydraulic robots. That is many people have been thinking.

The main reason was that the equations for hydraulic robots are more complex than those for electric robots.


However, using the method discovered in this laboratory, It allows you to express your equations more rigorously and easily, and to compute them faster. Therefore, we are focusing on establishing model-based control for hydraulic robots.

 
Various construction machines play an active role in disaster relief around the world, such as earthquakes and tsunamis. If we can achieve model-based control in which a hydraulic robot can shake hands with humans, The danger of all construction machinery will be reduced at once, and the operating range will be expanded at once. We believe that we will be able to save lives that could not be saved until now.
