酸化ストレスは細胞死や炎症に深く関与しており、とりわけ血管内皮細胞で産生される酸化ストレスは動脈硬化を促進させます。ドレスデン工科大学医学部のHenning Morawietz教授は微小循環や血管生物学を専門とされており、分子病態学の 沢村 達也 教授と旧知の間柄です。またドレスデン工科大学と信州大学の交流を熱心に支えてくださっています。コロナ禍後、初の信州大学への訪問に際し、本セミナーが実現しました。　

沢村教授の司会により、Morawietz先生に血管内皮細胞での酸化ストレス産生のメカニズムと動脈硬化との関連について、最新の研究成果をご講演頂きました。当日は30名余りの本学学生、大学院生、教職員が集まり、オンラインでも配信されました。冨田 拓郎 准教授（分子薬理学）、森 政之 准教授、藤井 千文 先生（ともにバイオメディカル研究所）をはじめ、多くの研究者や学生から質問が投げかけられ、熱いDiscussionが繰り広げられました。

今回のセミナーはバイオメデイカル研究所との共催で開催され、動脈硬化研究の最新知見を理解することができました。今後も世界最先端の研究に触れる機会を設け、信州大学医学部の研究者の視野を世界に向けていきたいと考えております。

"Impact of risk factors on oxidative stress and cardiovascular diseases"

【要旨】
Important risk factors of cardiovascular diseases are hypertension, obesity, diabetes, hypercholesterolemia and smoking. They can induce oxidative stress and cardiovascular diseases. This talk will focus on mechanisms regulating the cross talk between risk factors and oxidative stress in the cardiovascular system. My group is investigating the role of NADPH oxidases as major sources of reactive oxygen species in the vessel wall. We use human endothelial cells, transgenic models and clinical studies to get a better understanding of the underlying mechanisms and to develop novel diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for cardiovascular diseases.
