Dr. Ikuo Tomioka, Assistant Professor of the Institute for Biomedical Sciences, has successfully generated a transgenic primate model for neurological degeneration diseases, which recapitulates the human disease process including the accumulation of misfolded proteins and neuronal cell loss, resulting in neurologic symptoms in collaboration with the National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry. A press conference to announce this accomplishment was held on March 24, 2017.
