World-class Achievements
One of our important research targets, nano fibers (fibers
with collective diameters of 100 nm or less), has been receiving much international
attention as evidenced by the exponential growth in the number of research papers
since 2000. Shinshu University boasts being fifth in the world and first in
Japan in the number of papers published, demonstrating that we are a major research
center of the world.
A notable feature of our Center is its contribution to the society. Because
fibers themselves are items that are directly linked to many aspects of life
and advanced industry, the fiber industry has been producing a number of products
by matching research ideas to society's needs. Our Center strives to provide
solutions to many societal issues by triggering a paradigm shift in our lives
and culture in the 21st century through the development of the fiber engineering
and its education.
