Environmental Sciences in Mountainous Area

Outline of Chair

Education and researches on atmospheric environment, hydrospheric environment and biospheric environment in mountainous area.

Research Fields

  1. Education and researches on chemical dynamics of snow in mountainious area
  2. Atmospheric environments with laser remote sensing techniques
  3. Fundamental Studies on Infiltration,Mass and Heat Transport in Subsurface and Its application to Geo-Environmental Problems
  4. Educate and study to nonstationary frequency analysis of hydrological data (rainfall, discharge, groundwater, etc.)
  5. Analysis on the impact of artificial chemicals on aquatic environment
  6. Education and research on cycling of natural elements in watersheds.
  7. Education and research on evaluation of human impact on and dynamics of natural oraganic toxins in inland water ecosystems
  8. Microbial ecology in mountain soils
  9. This class gives an overview of the biological and ecological diversities of life and habitat in
various fields, and studies how to use and conserve the diversities.
  10. Research and education on the origins of flora and fauna communities of woodland and grassland terrestrial ecosystems, on their retention, and on methods for their conservation.
  11. Education and researches in the course on evolutionary biology and biodiversity, focusing on
key topics of origin, phylogeny and the groundplan of animals
  12. Education and researches in the course involve ecology and evolution of species interactions and coexistences.
  13. Studies on the mechanisms of environmental adaptation and their constrains of animals
  14. Research and education on clarification of population dynamics and multi-species co-existence mechanisms of flora, and evaluation of the effect of global warming on flora communities.
  15. For the purpose of fostering advanced but fundamental scholarship and profound expert
knowledge, this seminar will be held to carry out exercises concerning the field directly
related to the tasks for study.
  16. In order to make students participate in seminars with attendance of teaching staff and
students of the different but related major fields of study invited from the other chairs or other
fields so that respective own research can be developed to the other fields other than the
particular major field, this seminar will be held to foster abilities to extend to develop or
    challenge to the other field.
  17. Under the Chief Guidance Teaching Staff and Vise-Guidance Teaching Staffs, to actively
make research on the theme of study which is decided through discussion with the Chief
Guidance Teaching Staff and to make publication (doctoral thesis).
  18. Students may be trained practically in any public agency and business enterprise if effectiveness
    on education is recognized.
