I joined the Neurosurgery Department in 2017 as a regular student on the Shinshu University PhD course. My experience so far in Shinshu University has been very positive. There are many researches going on in my department, so here I can be involved in various kinds of research projects. These provide me with many opportunities to learn new things, publish papers and present in conferences.
Besides doing research, I am also lucky enough to have a clinical training on neurosurgery. I can attend morning reports, patient rounds, and also join the surgeries. As a person who want to work as a neurosurgeon, I found it very useful to build my knowledge and skills, especially because there are many sophisticated neurosurgical techniques and technologies that are being used in Japan.
The teaching and mentoring in my programs also very good. My supervisors and the staffs in the University are very helpful and supportive. They make my study here really enjoyable.
Regarding life in Matsumoto, I think it's pretty comfortable. Not only the scenery is beautiful, the people are also kind and friendly. Those make the atmosphere of Matsumoto relaxed and laid. A very good place to live and study.
Overall, I am satisfied with my PhD program in Shinshu University. I believe that it will be useful for my career in the future.
