The Materials Chemistry Division intends to foster advanced engineers and researchers who will have advanced-technology-supporting professional knowledge, flexible ideas, and application skills by developing new materials useful in societies and by researching new utilization methods, environmental materials, and ecomaterials.

The main research themes

  • Next-generation inorganic material innovation by researching crystals, thin films, and surfaces
  • Research for inventing functional materials by using electrochemical techniques such as plating
  • Development of new techniques and molecular catalyst mainly for synthesizing pharmacologically active heterocyclic compounds
  • Invention of nanomaterials by using micro spaces and interfacial surfaces in liquid
  • Production and improvement of biomass-degrading enzyme by using gene recombination technology
