The Mechanical Systems Engineering Division is the foundation for supporting mankind’s continuous activities.


To realize sustainable societies harmonized with the earth's environment, this division, based on mechanical engineering, is addressing advanced new technologies such as design development using composite materials, robots, and computers, and is researching environmental science and technology of natural energy, environmental materials, etc.
This division fosters creative mechanical engineers who have flexible mindsets and can be active in future industrial technological societies.

Main Research Theme

  • Material design based on the first principle calculation and material multiscale modeling
  • Direct numerical simulation of jet flows, oscillatory flows, etc., and control and numerical calculation method of oscillatory flows
  • Nanodynamics and configuration theory of precision positioning mechanism, and tribology of precision machinery elements
