Scholarships Available Before Applying for Admission

For international students wishing to study at Shinshu University, various scholarship programs are available.

Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho: MEXT) Scholarship

Japanese government scholarship supports foreign students who study in higher education institutions, selected on the recommendation of Japanese Embassy/Consulate General, University, or Authority. You can apply for either of the two categories of the MEXT Scholarship before applying for admission:

  1. By embassy recommendation
  2. By Shinshu University recommendation (oversees applications)

Scholarship by Foreign Government (home country)

Government of the country of residence may offer scholarship program for students to study in Japan and other countries. Confirm with your government office in charge of education for information on availability and eligibility regarding such scholarships.

  1. Admission fees are only charged in the first year.
  2. Tuition for Shinshu University will be waived for those students who have been selected by the partner university in accordance with a tuition waiver agreement with Shinshu University.

Tuition Fee and/or Entrance Fee Exemption

International students who are in need of financial assistance are eligible to be considered for exemptions from between half the tuition fee and the whole amount. For more information, visit the website of Center for Global Education and Collaboration, Shinshu University.
