Why did you choose to study at Faculty of Agriculture, Shinshu University?
I wanted to do a research that had some relation with my home country. Before coming to Japan, I heard about a mushroom species native from Brazil that has several medicinal properties and wanted to learn more about it. When looking for Japanese universities where I could do research about this mushroom, I found out that Shinshu University has excellence for the microbiology field and was one of few universities where I could do that research.

Why did you choose to study at Faculty of Agriculture, Shinshu University?
I recently earned my PhD in Agricultural Science at Shinshu University (Faculty of Agriculture) last September 2019 through the MEXT:Monbukagusho scholarship program of the Japanese government. I considered Shinshu University over top-ranking universities in Japan because of its unique education system, engaging study curriculum, and cutting-edge research in the field of agricultural and food science. I chose to study at Shinshu University because my research interest was very much inclined to my Professor's research projects with emphasis on the protective roles of bioactive compounds derived from agricultural crops and functional foods against age-related cognitive decline and neurodegenerative diseases. I joined in the Food Chemistry Laboratory and was mentored by Professor Nakamura and Associate Professor Shigeru Katayama. My study experience at Shinshu University was truly amazing and challenging. I studied the neuroprotective and cognitive decline-suppressing activity of biomaterials isolated from fermented rice beverage and by-products using human neuronal cells and mouse models of aging.

Why did you choose to study at Faculty of Agriculture, Shinshu University?
As we know that the Bangladesh is the third world developing & highly dense population based country. For the growing nation, protein requirement is mandatory to build-up the healthy nation. Over the last three decades, especially in Bangladesh, Thailand, India and Indonesia poultry industry is growing fast. But, in reply, this level of production leads to a great demand for feed resources, and hence, the industry has encountered the problem of obtaining feasible and adequate feed ingredients, especially protein sources which are import dependent and expensive. Unfortunately, it is extremely difficult to increase the production of such feed ingredients, because of limited land area. So, how do they overcome this difficulty? Development of alternative feed ingredients from domestic unused food by-products which are cheaply and safely available is one of the good solutions. And I believe that Faculty of Agriculture is the right place to do such kind of research, that's why I choose this faculty.
