Shinshu University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor Position in the field of Wild Animal Science, at Shinshu University Faculty of Agriculture.

I. Job Description
1. Number of Positions: one Assistant Professor (tenure-track)
2. Work place: Faculty of Agriculture, Shinshu University, 8304 Minamiminowa-Village, Kamiina-County, Nagano

3. Employment and Benefits: Five year tenure-track appointment starting on the date of the appointment. The salary will depend on the experiences as stipulated in the regulations of Shinshu University. Health insurance, mutual pension, employment insurance, and occupational injury insurance will be available.
4. Research field: Wild Animal Science
5. Qualifications: Applicants should have
 (1) Have a doctoral degree (or be expected to receive a doctoral degree by starting date of the job).
 (2) Have research experience in the field of wild animal science and the ability to develop education and research of the research field both in the field and in the laboratory.
 (3) Have enthusiasm and cooperative attitude toward education and research in the relevant specialized field at the university, and the ability to contribute to the enhancement and development of the field.
 (4) Have a motivation to obtain external funding, to engage in social and international activities, and to contribute to the local community.
 (5) Have the ability to properly engage in organizational operations as a member of a university
6. Job Responsibility:
 (1) Research and research supervision: Be required to develop distinctive research focusing on the following projects. Namely, the research field related to conservation and management of wild animals in mountain environments of the Japan alps, and analysis of behavioral characteristics of wild animals for the control of damage in agriculture and forestry from a long-term perspective based in the Shinshu region
 (2) Teaching of undergraduate and graduate level courses broadly related to the research field. Subjects will include;
 ・Undergraduate course (Division of Animal Science)
 Wild Animal Science, Compendium of Animal Life Science, Experiments in Animal Science, Thesis Research I-III, etc.
 ・Graduate course (Master's Course: Bioresource Science Division)
 Advanced Lecture in Animal Science and Technology I, Advanced Lecture in Animal and Plant Sciences, Advanced Seminar for Animal Science and Technology I-II, Advanced Experimental Course on Animal Science and Technology, etc.
 (3) Administrative and service works
7. Tenure Evaluation: In the final year of appointment, the researcher's achievements in research, teaching and administrative responsibility during the period will be evaluated. On passing the evaluation, the employment will become tenured appointment starting April 1, 2029. The details of the evaluation will be explained at the time of interview.
8. Selection Procedure: The selection will be made based on the application materials and personal interview. Japanese language skill is not a prerequisite for the selection, but will be required for tenure appointment.
