Center for Global Education and Collaboration Final Presentations(2021/2/3)

On Wednesday, 3rd February 2021, the "Center for Global Education and Collaboration Final Presentations for the Fall 2020 semester" were held online using Zoom.

There were two types of presentations: individual speeches and group presentations. The speeches were given by international students who had completed their Intensive Japanese Language Course and are planning to continue on to graduate school at Shinshu University, or by those who need to study Japanese for their research. Because all Japanese language courses were provided online this term, for the first time, international students from other campuses could also join the presentations event. The presenters made use of the Japanese language skills they had acquired on their GEC language courses and gave speeches on subjects that interested them, such as their life in, and impressions of, Japan and the challenges they were facing living alone in a foreign country for the first time.

The group presentations had been prepared in the framework of the "Intercultural Co-Learning and Presentation ICP" Program, in which Japanese students and international students with different cultural backgrounds work together to create a group presentation. This time the topic was "Urban planning and community development".

Finally, 18 international students from 7 countries (China, South Korea, Brazil, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and Mongolia) as well as Japanese students contributed to our Final Presentations event.

After the presentations, Japanese language instructors and other teaching staff asked the students questions. This event was, and we hope will continue to be, a great opportunity for all participants to develop a deeper understanding of each other's cultures and ways of thinking.

The next GEC Final Presentations event is scheduled for August 6, 2021. We are looking forward to seeing what kinds of topics will be presented next time.
