Center for Global Education and Collaboration Final Presentation Ceremony (Year of 2023 Fall)

On Tuesday, January 30, 2024, the "Center for Global Education and Collaboration Final Presentation" was held in Lecture Room No. 13 on Matsumoto Campus, Shinshu University.

Short-term international students, exchange students and Japanese Studies Students (Nikken students) who have studied abroad at Shinshu University for six months or one year give a speech at this event. This time, 37 students from 18 countries (USA, France, Germany, Turkmenistan, Netherlands, Italy, Poland, Russia, China, Taiwan, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Uzbekistan, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Egypt, Brazil, and Malaysia) made presentations. Thirty-seven people from a total of 18 countries gave presentations. In addition, 56 Japanese students, including tutors, listened to the presentations.

The theme of this year's presentations was "What I felt and grew during my study abroad experience at Shinshu University". Each student gave a 3 to 5 minute presentation. Each of the international students presented how they started their study abroad program with expectations but also with anxiety, and how they enjoyed their study abroad experience and grew despite the cultural differences and difficulties they encountered after coming to Japan. Their presentations showed that they had grown not only in their Japanese language skills but also in their personal qualities. The students themselves also felt that their Japanese language skills had improved and that they had grown as human beings, not only through international exchange with students from various countries, but also through international co-curricular activities at elementary and junior high schools, visits to Japanese companies and information sessions, exchange with local people, and cultural experiences.

The Japanese tutors also provided support for the preparation for the final presentation. The presentation was a very valuable opportunity for not only international students but also domestic students to learn from each other and study together.

Half of the international students who gave presentations will return to their home countries after this presentation, and the final presentation is an important event for them to present the results of their study abroad experience. The next meeting is scheduled to be held in August, six months from now.
