Overview

Advanced Textile Engineering Unit


Advanced Textile Engineering Unit provides an education mainly consisting of advanced textile engineering that systematically researches leading-edge functional fiber, yarn, and cloth manufacturing methods and their measurement and evaluation methods. This unit fosters researchers and engineers who can utilize electric and electronic engineering, ergonomics, measurement engineering, and system engineering supporting advanced textile engineering, and can plan and implement a project from an international viewpoint based on manufacturing and marketing.



Kansei Engineering Unit


This unit provides curriculum for fostering the human resources who can manufacture higher-level products based on the concept of Kansei engineering and by introducing the “Kansei” (sensitivity) element into the products and services. This unit has lecture courses about various fields of information, physiological-psychological responses, design, etc., that are related to general product and service development from materials to cultures. This unit also provides a course for discussing topics in the Kansei engineering approach in these fields. In addition, special experiments for acquiring more professional theory about and techniques of Kansei engineering are organized in stages.

Advanced Textile Engineering Unit

  • Research of design of fiber structure and physical properties depending on fiber materials and manufacturing conditions
  • Research of use comfort of interior textile products, and their effects on inhabited environment
  • Research of comfort digitalization of sportswear, suits, etc.
  • Research of fiber materials and products by using mathematical science and system engineering techniques
  • Research and development of nondestructive measurement techniques of textile products and living bodies
  • Measurement of human sensory and perceptive characteristics and human body characteristics, and their application to textile product design

Kansei Engineering Unit

  • Discovery of unchanging facts in the history, and development of product images appropriate for human minds and bodies
  • Evaluation of physical and Kansei characteristics of textile, and personalized design and high-value-added design of clothes
  • Development of human-comfort measurement technology and technology to convey the feeling to other people
  • Research of product design and development support technologies by applying IT technology to fashion and textile fields
  • Research of product evaluation, design, and development of daily life products, sporting goods, etc.
  • Research of generation of intelligent system that adapts to complex system in international textile fashion field
  • Development of human- and environment-friendly materials, for example, high-polymer materials that will decompose in natural environment or living bodies
  • Application of amphiphilic polymers to medical field, and research of structure forming of biological and natural polymers and polymer alloys
  • Kansei measurement and comfort evaluation regarding basic human actions such as walking, sitting, and sleeping
  • Development of new Kansei education system by innovating the conventional learning system and by taking advantage of English and Kansei (sensitivity)
