Purpose and Background of the Recruitment

The Faculty of Agriculture promotes research and development for the realization of "Agri-transformation" that brings new value and transformation to regional agriculture and forestry, as well as the development of data science education related to agricultural science. We will build an international network in the field of agricultural science and promote international joint research and the establishment of double degree programs. To support these initiatives, we are seeking a faculty member who can promote research in the field of agricultural science utilizing data science, is capable of teaching in English, and can actively engage in the formation of international networks.

I. Job Description
1. Number of Positions: One Assistant Professor (three-year fixed term)
2. Work place: Faculty of Agriculture, Shinshu University, 8304 Minamiminowa-Village, Kamiina-County, Nagano

3. Employment Type: Regular Employee. Discretionary Labor System (3 years)
4. Contract Period: 3 years from the starting date (expected to April 1, 2026 to March 31,2029)
5. Benefits:
Based on Shinshu University's rules and regulations.
Annual Salary: 5,808,000yen(Monthly Salary:484,000yen (Including welfare benefits))
Welfare: Employment insurance, Worker's accident compensation insurance, and social insurance
6. Research field: Field related to Agricultural Science
7. Qualifications: Applicants should have
(1) Doctoral degree or expecting to receive a doctoral degree by starting date of the job.
(2) Research experience and specialized expertise in the field of agricultural science utilizing data science, and the ability to conduct education and research based on this expertise.
(3) The ability to conduct undergraduate and graduate education sufficiently in English.
(4) Strong willingness to successful grant applications and to carry out social and international academic activities.
(5) The ability to conduct classes in Japanese is preferred.

8. Job Responsibility:
(1) Research in agricultural sciences utilizing data science
(2) Operations of the Agricultural DX Education and Research Center
(3) Planning and management of international joint education and research programs
(4) Planning and participation in international conferences and academic exchanges
(5) Promotion of exchanges with international partner universities (building and expanding networks)
(6) Conducting lectures and seminars in agricultural sciences in English
