環境への取組の歴史
持続可能な社会を構築するため、信州大学では次のようなプログラムで環境マインドをもつ人材の養成に取り組んでいます。

History of Environmental Initiatives
Shinshu University has implemented the following programs to nurture people with an eco-mind and help build a sustainable society.

| April 2001 | Launch of environment-conscious engineer education program for all departments of the Faculty of Engineering |
| May 2001 | Faculty of Engineering obtains ISO 14001 certification (first among national universities/graduate schools). |
| August 2001 | Launch of pilot environmental management internship program |
| April 2002 | Department of Environmental Science and Technology established within the Graduate School Division of Science and Technology |
| August 2003 | Launch of full operation of the environmental management internship program |
| May 2004 | Faculty of Engineering ISO 14001 certification renewed |
| July 2004 | Eco-mind program adopted as a Distinctive University Education Support Program by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology |
| September 2005 | Overseas environmental education implementation research team dispatched (USA, Germany) |
| December 2005 | Faculty of Education obtains ISO 14001 certification (first separate certification for a teacher training faculty in Japan). |
| April 2006 | School of General Education established, and 2 credits from Environment and People course become a requirement. Award of Prize for Excellent College in the 2006 Global Environment Awards |
| June 2006 | Organized first ISO 14001 Environmental Management Student Committee national conference |
| September 2006 | Overseas environmental education implementation research team dispatched (Germany) |
| November 2006 | Faculty of Agriculture obtains ISO 14001 certification. Overseas environmental education implementation research team dispatched (UK) |
