Undergraduate Course

School of Medicine

  • Upon completion of the undergraduate course in medical sciences at Shinshu University School of Medicine, the Doctor of Medicine shall be awarded to candidates:

Attitude and Passion

  • Who have acquired a broad range of knowledge coupled with warm humanity as well as high ethical standards and can act for the sound development of our society.
  • Who demonstrate great insight and possess a sincere attitude as well as passion to save the sick as a medical expert.

Thought and Judgment

  • Who are able to scientifically assess the patient's physical, psychological, and social state and take the necessary action by organizing various types of information.

Communication

  • Who can communicate well with patients and their family members, possessing the ability to promote medical practice as a team member by building good relations not only with clinicians but also health and welfare professionals.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Who have acquired a wide range of knowledge and advanced techniques to carry out accurate diagnoses of diseases and provide proper treatments.
  • Who constantly gather the latest medical information and challenge themselves to pursue their lifelong learning tasks.

School of Health Sciences

  • In accordance with Shinshu University School of Health Sciences philosophy and goals, the Bachelor of Science (in Nursing) or the Bachelor of Science (in Health Science) shall be awarded to candidates:
  1. Who have acquired a wide range of knowledge about and a holistic understanding of human beings and are capable of supporting people's health, while respecting human life.
  2. Who can analyze phenomena occurring in the field of health and medical care and understand the process of making judgments based on the necessary scientific evidence to solve health problems.
  3. Who can utilize the acquired basic knowledge and skills in various situations, cultivating the sensitivity required as health and medical care professionals.
  4. Who can recognize their responsibility as a professional and participate in collaborative activities as a team member in the field of health, medicine and welfare.
  5. Who can understand the needs for and methods of health and clinical care activities based on international perspectives, being aware of cultural diversity.
  6. Who are capable of setting up learning tasks and goals on their own and continuing to accomplish them by applying broad knowledge and creative thinking acquired by contacting many disciplines

Graduate School of Medicine

  • Upon completion of each division of the doctoral course in medical sciences at Shinshu University Graduate School of Medicine, the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D. in Medicine) shall be awarded to candidates:
  1. Who are capable of resolving tasks in their respective fields jointly or independently, possessing academic and research skills in medical sciences as well as data gathering abilities and analytical capabilities.
  2. Who are capable of working actively on international issues as well as dispersing their own achievements globally.
  3. Who possess high ethical standards based on the understanding of medicine, health, and related science research and can carry out medical practice, research and education on a scientific basis.

Master's Program

Human Sience

  • Upon completion of the master's course in medical sciences at Shinshu University Graduate School of Medicine, the Master of Medicine in Medical Science shall be awarded to candidates:
  1. Who have acquired fundamental knowledge, skills and techniques in basic and clinical medicine and are capable of pursuing them on their own.
  2. Who have acquired rich humanity and communication skills and are capable of dispersing their own achievements at home and abroad.
  3. Who can continue to enhance their abilities and expertise by seeking lifelong challenges.
  4. Who can act according to social needs by gathering and analyzing updated information utilizing a broad range of acquired knowledge.

Health Sciences

  • Upon completion of the master's course in health sciences at Shinshu University Graduate School of Health Sciences, the Master of Health Science (in Nursing or Health Science) shall be awarded to candidates:
  1. Who possess high ethical standards, advanced knowledge, techniques and highly practical skills based on scientific evidence to solve clinical problems.
  2. Who are capable of pursuing research from their original viewpoint in the fields of health, medical care and welfare.
  3. Who are actively involved in global issues and are capable of participating in international collaborative research and activities.
  4. Who are capable of contributing to the reforms of health care in conjunction with other areas in the field of community health, medical care and welfare.
