On Tuesday, December 16, 2025, as part of the "Flat World" campaign organized by student supporters, an event introducing Oklahoma State University in the United States was held at the Matsumoto Campus.
The "Flat World" campaign aims to introduce Shinshu University students to study abroad opportunities.
This month, the United States was selected as one of the featured regions.
American students currently studying at Shinshu University collaborated with Japanese students to create presentations showcasing their alma maters.
Chico State University was introduced first on Wednesday, December 3, followed by Oklahoma State University on Tuesday, December 16, and California State University, Sacramento on Thursday, December 18.
The presentation went as expected. Despite a few challenging places where we had few hiccups, I believe we got a majority of the point across.
In terms of the quality of information conveyed a few more steps could have been taken to be properly prepared to present in Japanese.
The most concerning thing for me was the seemingly disinterested audience and their lack of questions. Although now, I am being told that is the proper etiquette most students display during presentations.
Overall, it was a decent seminar and next time should go just as well if not better.
