2024.01.11 (Thu)

On January 11, 2024, Professor Kazue Masuyama from the Department of World Languages and Literatures at California State University, Sacramento(CSUS) visited the Matsumoto campus.

During this visit, face-to-face discussions were lively held with relevant faculty members regarding the possibility of short-term student exchanges to our university through "Study Abroad Programs" offered by CSUS, as well as the implementation of educational programs through Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) between Shinshu University and CSUS. Additionally, Professor Masuyama had an opportunity to attend some of the Japanese language classes and observed the International House, a facility for most exchange students to accommodate near the campus. With a focus on the development of the STEAM education program connecting with the regional topics, which is the targeted concept of our project, she visited one of the oldest miso storehouses in Matsumoto city and experienced the traditional food culture in Nagano prefecture.

CSUS is one of our partner universities in terms of the Inter-University Exchanges Project, and since the academic exchange agreement in October 2017, student exchanges between the two institutions have been consistently implemented. Through this visit, the further expansion of the student exchange and the development of educational programs utilizing implementation of COIL will be expected.
