Delegation of SU visited Three Partner Universities in the United States

In terms of the Inter-University Exchange Project, the delegations of faculty and staff from Shinshu University were formed to visit three partner universities in the United States in late January and mid-February 2024.

On January 25 and 26, the first delegation with the faculty members from the Center for General Education and the Center for Global Education and Collaboration (GEC), along with staff of the Department of International Affairs, visited Oklahoma State University, which has actively engaged in student exchanges with our university since signing the MoU in 2005. Discussions were lively held regarding the continuation of student exchanges, building up a short-term student exchange program, implementation of Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL), and the development of PBL courses between two universities.

From February 14 to 16, the second delegation of mainly composed by the faculty members and staff from the Faculty of Agriculture visited California State University, Chico. Discussions and coordination were conducted regarding the implementation of COIL courses in the Faculty of Agriculture and the establishment of short-term study programs. Since signing an academic exchange agreement in 2013, both institutions have actively facilitated student exchanges.

The last delegation with the faculty members from GEC and staff of the Department of International Affairs visited California State University, Sacramento (CSUS) from February 19 to 21. Since signing an academic exchange agreement in 2017, SU and CSUS have actively facilitated student exchanges. During this visit, coordination was made between faculty members specializing in STEAM education, Japanese language and culture, and Eastern cultures from both universities. There are expectations for the realization of COIL courses and short-term study abroad programs in the near future.
