On Thursday, October 23, 2025, Matsumoto Mayor Yoshinao Gaun visited the Aqua Regeneration Central Hub (ARCH), located on the Shinshu University Matsumoto Campus, for an inspection.
Attendees on the day included Soichiro Nakamura, President of Shinshu University, and Kiyoyuki Shimizu, Executive Director for Research, among others. A discussion regarding collaboration toward solving water issues and developing the local community was held in a consistently amicable atmosphere.
At the beginning of the discussion, President Soichiro Nakamura provided an explanation of Shinshu University's "Earth Positive" initiative aimed at regenerating the global environment, an outline of research in the "Aqua Regeneration" field, and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's "Program for Promoting the Enhancement of Research Universities with Regional Core and Distinctive Characteristics (J-PEAKS)."
Following this, Daichi Miyahara, URA, introduced the specific initiatives where cutting-edge research and technological development are being deployed, including an overview of ARCH's facilities, resident companies, and efforts such as water circulation and green hydrogen production.
Furthermore, recognizing Aqua Regeneration as a globally vital theme, Mayor Yoshinao Gaun stated that Matsumoto City would also play a role in raising momentum and linking it to its own unique brand power.
Following the discussion, Mayor Yoshinao Gaun and his party enthusiastically toured the facilities within the center, such as the "Robot Lab" equipped with innovative research equipment.
The inspection concluded with President Soichiro Nakamura and Mayor Yoshinao Gaun exchanging a firm handshake, demonstrating a strong commitment to "collaborate toward the future" as a "hub for co-creation."
