Shinshu University is a national university with its headquarters in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, with eight faculties and five graduate schools. Shinshu University plans to establish the Aqualogy Program within the Graduate School of Science and Technology in April 2027.

1.Admission category and Examination fee
<Admission category>
The Aqualogy Program offers two admission categories:
1. Special Recommendation-Based Admission
2. General Admission
Applicants wishing to apply through the Special Recommendation-Based Admission
must obtain a recommendation from the Principal Investigator (PI) of their preferred
research unit.
Only applicants who have been formally recommended by that PI are eligible to apply
through this admission category. Applicants who do not have such a recommendation
may apply through the General Admission category.
<Examination fee>
There is no Examination fee to apply for the Aqualogy program.
2.Selection Process
The admission process consists of two stages:
First Screening (Document Review)
All applications will be evaluated based on the submitted application materials
(see Section 5, Required Documents).
Second Screening (Online interview)
Applicants who successfully pass the first screening will be invited to participate
in an online interview. The interview will assess the applicant's academic background,
research interests, motivation for joining the Aqualogy Program, communication skills,
and potential to succeed and contribute in a research-intensive international
environment.
Final admission decisions will be made based on a comprehensive evaluation of the
results of both the first screening (document review) and the second screening
(online interview).

The primary admission round will be conducted in November 2026.
If places remain available after the first round of admissions, a second admission round will be conducted in May 2027.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply during the primary admission round whenever possible.
<Eligibility>
Those who graduated with a bachelor's or master's degree or expect to complete their degree before the enrollment date are eligible to apply.
Applicants who do not clearly meet the above criteria, or who hold qualifications obtained through alternative educational pathways, may be considered for admission following an individual eligibility assessment conducted by the program prior to application.
4.Application Procedure

Applications are accepted exclusively through the online application system.
To apply for the program, applicants must first create an account on the application website.
All required documents must be prepared in English, converted to PDF format, and uploaded through the online system.

*5: Applicants must arrange for one or more letters of recommendation from individuals who are qualified to evaluate their academic, research, and/or educational abilities, such as professors, academic advisors, or research supervisors. Recommendation letters must be submitted directly by the recommender through the designated online application system.
Letters uploaded by applicants themselves will not be accepted.
