Reorganization of the Graduate School of Science and Technology (scheduled for April 2027)

[Important Notice] All information provided below is provisional and subject to change.

Overview

We are restructuring our organization to better address global challenges—such as critical water issues and the needs of a super-aging society, linked with a national project "the J-PEAKS". We will establish the new Department of "Aqualogy" and enhance the Department of Biomedical engineering and Agriculture.

Key Changes

  • Establishment of the Department of Aqualogy:
To tackle global water crises and contribute to the realization of a hydrogen society, the Department of Aqualogy will be launched in 2027. The curriculum will be delivered entirely in English, preparing specialists to tackle urgent issues on an international scale. This will be Japan's only educational program dedicated to pioneering the future of water and hydrogen.
  • Increase in student intake for the Department of Agriculture:
To meet social needs of smart agriculture, we will offer divisions of "Life and Food Science", "Food Production Systems" and "Forestry and Symbiosis in Mountain Environments" and increase the admission quota from 65 to 80 students.
  • Renaming of the Department of Biomedical Engineering:
To address the needs of an aging society, the Department of Biomedical Engineering will be refined to focus on the fusion of medicine and engineering.
