【Report】GCOE Special Lecture by Prof.B.K. Behera India/ IITDelhi
Shinshu University held a Global COE special lecture by Prof. Bijoy K. Behera of the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi on Friday (December 4th) at Advanced Research Centre Building on Ueda campus.
Prof. Behera talked about Education in IIT, Delhi for over an hour before many students and teaching staff. His talk started from the Indian educational system and ended with education and research in the Department of Textile Technology of IIT Delhi where he belongs. Answering questions from the audience, he also humorously referred to the other side of the coin of Indian education.

【Report】GCOE Special Lecture by Dr. Ludovic Koehl and Ms Marie-Pierre Delspierre(International Affairs)France・ENSAIT
GCOE held special lecture by Dr. Ludovic Koehl and Ms Marie-Pierre Delspierre (Head of International Affairs) made an introduction of ENSAIT on its organization, education, research, and international collaboration on Oct.7th,(Wed), 10:00〜12:00 at Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology Bldg.
They encouraged graduate students of Shinshu University to participate in Double Diploma Program and to study at ENSAIT. Two French students (coming to Shinshu University from ENASIT) explained about student life at ENSAIT.

CAUTION for Influenza A virus subtype H1N1
To all Shinshu University students, faculty and staff

As influenza remains widespread both within the University and around the world, there is risk of a further increase in infection rates with starting new semester (lectures and examinations). We ask individuals should make preparations for the eventuality that they are infected, and if you are infected please contact the relevant department so that an accurate picture of the state of infection within the university can be maintained.
Influenza A H1N1 is a strain of the Influenza virus that usually affects pigs, but which may also make people sick. Influenza A H1N1 is a respiratory illness that causes symptoms similar to those of the regular human seasonal flu. Nearly everybody is susceptible because it is a new virus for human body.
Influenza and other respiratory infections are transmitted from person to person when germs enter your body. Coughs and sneezes release germs into the air, where they can be breathed in by others.
Following are steps to be taken to reduce your chance of contracting H1N1 influenza prevent spread of the disease to others should you become ill. Please do your part to reduce spread illness.
Key to minimizing risks:
- Wash your hands with soap thoroughly and frequently or use hand sanitizer often, and gargle regularly
-Cover your mouse when you cough or sneeze and/or utilize masks
-Keep your immune system healthy
-Do not share personal items such as cup, straws, towels, etc.
-Avoid large gatherings if it’s possible
-Get a flu shot
Symptoms:
How do you tell if you have a cold or the flu?
The hallmark sign that you have been infected with influenza is the sudden onset of any one or more of these symptoms. Cough, fever, body aches, nausea, vomiting and /or diarrhea.
What to do if you are ill:
-Stay home and minimize contact with others
-Do not attend class
You should seek medical advice if:
- You have severe vomiting or diarrhea or high fever for certain period of time or any other symptoms that you feel not normal.
Please contact to Public Health Center, and School affairs for further instructions to get them advise you.
It is Imperative that you stay informed for the latest information regarding this Influenza A H1N1.

*If you are diagnosed this Influenza A H1N1, you have to stay home for 2 more days after your temperature goes back to normal. First step need to be taken when you returned to school is to contact with School Infirmary and School Affairs.
If you are diagnosed to Influenza A H1N1, your absence will be officially permitted.
