SWCNT ropes with polyurethane show high energy density

2024.05.02

Figure1_revised.png

A research group led by Specially Contract Professor Kaneko demonstrated single walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) ropes with polyurethane elastomers have high energy density.

Researchers from RISM Shinshu University, Suwa University of Science and Michigan State University produced ropes made of SWCNT and polyurethane elastomers. The twisted ropes show capability of storing high nanomechanical energy, stable under low to high temperature and resilience over use.

These results could help for energy storage technologies which play important roles in sustainable/clean energy use. Its applications could vary from small seized everyday life energy supplies to large scale such as capture and store wind/ water power and to biomedical fields.
