Research Theme: Efficiency in social learning
Brief explanation about the specialized area
Social science is an area of research concerned with society and the relationships among individuals within a society. In general, social science includes soft sciences like anthropology, history, psychology, etc. Here we are interested in hard social science --- social science using mathematics, physics, and computer simulation.
But can social science be natural science at all?
One key to mathematically studing social science is modeling. For example, let us imagine 10000 persons in a room and play a message game. We can regard this situation as a system of 10000 agents with interaction. Thus, it is possible to treat the system in terms of, for example, statistical mechanics. The problem is that individual agents can have their own will. Therefore analysis becomes more difficult than pure physical system.
