About " Strategic Young Researcher Overseas Visits Program for Accelerating Brain Circulation "

Funded and assisted by JSPS (Japan Society for the Promotion of Science), "Strategic Young Researcher Overseas Visits Program for Accelerating Brain Circulation" has been providing young researchers with international research opportunities. Through this program, Japanese universities and research institutions will promote cooperative relationship with overseas institutions and dispatch young researchers abroad for a longer period for the world-class international joint research program. It provides young researchers occasions to enhance their understanding of diversity and international standard in the academic research. This program internationally accelerates the brain circulation and provides young researches the great opportunity to face the various challenges for a better world.

Overview of International Joint Research Project

About the Project "Global Research on the Framework of Evolutionary Solution Search to Accelerate Innovation"

In an industrial market, various factors should be considered to improve productivity and efficiency, and also to increase a satisfaction of customers' needs, global competition of product prices, and to consider the environment through energy saving, all of which make the market even more complex. Recent manufacturing industry requires more advanced technologies to set the complicated problems (modeling), derive design variables and parameters, design objective functions to be evaluated, solve problems by optimization, analyze obtained solutions, and make appropriate decisions. However, as the system becoming larger, it is extremely difficult to solve the problems because some problems including many design variables and parameters must be optimized via several objective functions simultaneously. As a new approach to solve these complicated problems, "evolutionary computation" has got considerable attentions nowadays. "Evolutionary computation" is a computation algorithm inspired from the natural evolution of living things, and it leads to a resolution by the evolution of consolidated solutions so that it can be flexibly applied to unknown problems.
In this project, an global research team between the world's top institutions in Japan and France has been formed in the field of evolutionary computation, and the team has been striving for the further breakthrough in a computational science by promoting brain circulation of young researchers internationally which contributes the acceleration of innovation to solve various real-world problems.
