Textile Summit at University of Leeds

Activity report

7 students and 3 professors from the program participated "Textile Summit" held at University of Leeds in UK from April 24 to 26, 2104.
Students and researchers of about 100 from 4 major universities in fiber and textile research (North Carolina State University, University of Manchester, Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Shinshu University) gathered for student workshops and poster sessions and exchanged their views.

Day 1: As a starter, each university's introduction was made, followed by the student lecture session. The program students interacted with students from other universities.

Day 2: The program students made 2 presentations in 2 teams, "Manga and Cosplay, and Their Influence on Japanese Street Fashion" and "Kimono and the Japanese Youth" at the student workshop in the morning. They gave poster presentations at the students poster sessions in the afternoon.

Day 3: All program students and professors took part in the tour of Yorkshire Dales and York organized by University of Leeds.

At this summit, the students got a great opportunity to learn directly about ongoing various researches of fiber and textile in other countries and experienced many new things; they found interaction with people from other countries fun even with language barriers and that has motivated them to learn English even more.
