On March 21, 2024, Dr. Eugenio H. Otal, member of the Flux Grown Crystal Division, was honored with the MCAA Outstanding Contributor Award by the Marie Curie Alumni Association (MCAA).

The MCAA, an esteemed international non-profit organization supported by the European Commission, is dedicated to connecting and supporting researchers across Europe and globally. This award recognizes Dr. Otal’s contributions, particularly highlighting his role in founding and serving as Chair of the MCAA Japan Chapter.

Through initiatives such as MCAA AsiaConnect conferences and by establishing direct contacts between National Contact Points (NCP) and Shinshu University, Dr. Otal has enhanced collaboration and networking opportunities for researchers in Japan with counterparts worldwide, particularly in Europe.
