Course Description

This course shall be conducted in a lecture format. Materials shall be distributed. The instructor is a licensed architect with practical experience in surveying, restoration, preservation, and revitalizing historical structures (including restoring Shuri Castle), and that experience shall be used for instruction. Additionally, one guest lecture is planned (see lesson plan).
While the history of architecture is the focus of this course, we shall refer to the history of cities and the Earth to promote the students' understanding of the environment. We shall understand architectural and urban history as an environment built from objects and examine the physical environment.

A lecture (on ridge-support pillars in the World) shall be given by a guest lecturer (Tohoku University Associate Professor: Erika Koshi) between Weeks 2 and 14.

Final Exam - Written Exam
