Course Description
Empirical analysis based on statistical data is widely used for theoretical models of economics and management, as well as for the verification of real economic phenomena. This course is aimed at teaching the basics of data analysis using statistical software R, using micro and macro data. Through this course, students shall gain an understanding of the framework of empirical research in the social sciences and use it to prepare empirical reports and papers in the future.
The first half of this course (Sessions 1-7) shall explain the structure of empirical papers, the handling of economic statistical data, and the basics of statistical analysis. In the second half (Sessions 8-12), students will use R to analyze actual data and learn about the basic methods of empirical analysis and result interpretation in an exercise format. Finally, in sessions 13 and 14, students shall select topics related to economics and management and present the results of their analysis using R.
