Course Description
Using "Critical Thinking: A Functional Approach" by Zechmeister and Johnson as the primary textbook, students will prepare in advance for the
practical "Think about it" issues presented in each chapter before attending class. During class sessions, students will express their ideas in a
discussion format. By independently completing the practical exercises and engaging in group discussions, students will develop thinking, reasoning,
and critical and practical thinking skills.

Course Plan
Class 1: Orientation (no textbook required for the first class)
Classes 2–3: Chapter 1—Critical Thinking: What is It? Can It be Learned?
Classes 4–5: Chapter 2—Thinking about the Causes of Things
Classes 6–8: Chapter 3—Explaining the Behavior of Others
Classes 9–11: Chapter 4—Reflecting on Self
Classes 12–15: Chapter 5—Analyzing Beliefs
From the second class onward, the course will proceed presuming that the students prepared for the assignments in each textbook chapter titled "Think about it”
beforehand. The goal is to achieve the course objectives by summarizing your thoughts in advance and presenting them in class.
In Class 15, a course survey and a half-year review will be conducted.
