Course Description

The course aims to enhance students' understanding of Spain from cultural perspectives. Each session is focused on the themes outlined in the course
plan. In addition to lectures, the class includes activities to share the attractive aspects of Spanish societies and facilitate student-to-student outputfeedback.
These activities are designed to deepen students' reflections on complex phenomena within Spanish societies.

Course Plan

Weeks 1–11 include lectures on the following themes and activities to deepen students' understanding of Spanish society and culture while thinking in groups.
Week 1: Introduction to Spain
Week 2: Cultural phenomena in contemporary Spanish society
Week 3: History, politics, economy, religion, world heritage sites
Week 4: Mini-class on Castilian (Spanish), One of the Official Languages of Spain
Week 5: Arts and Architecture
Week 6: Music and movies
Week 7: Food culture
Week 8: Literature and media
Week 9: Intellectuals and intellectual activities
Week 10: Sports and education
Week 11:The Bilateral Relations between Japan and Spain, and Spain's Global Position
Weeks 12-15: Student Presentations and Feedback
Week 16: Final exam, course survey
