Summary of Activity

Our clinical and research purposes are to contribute to the child health and to support the growth and development for children.  In our department, nine groups (hematology, immunology, neurology, cardiology, endocrinology, nephrology, gastroenterology and neonatology) have each research plan and clinical techniques, and link with each other. Especially, we are informing our knowledge about the treatment for hematological disease and immunological disease to world wide for three decades.  And recently, the other groups also study some clinical trials and experiments.  We have invited a lot of scientists from the other countries as a research fellow.

Research Projects

Some of our research interests are as follows;

1. Pilot study of the pathogenesis of juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia in Japan using with colony assay and molecular analysis.

2. Low dose irradiation for bone marrow transplantation to treat about acute leukemia, in order to prevent the late onset sequela.

3. Development of telemedicine for medical support and consultation system through internet for hematological, neonatal, neurological disease.

4. How to monitor and prevent viral infection during the treatment of hematologial disease.

5. NASH and hyperlipidemia in childhood.

6. The change of expression of the bactericidal permeability-increasing protein (BPI), human cathelicidine antimicrobial peptide (hCAP18) and neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocaline (NGAL) during development in childhood.

7. Using with TNF-alpha antagonist to treat acute phase of Kawasaki disease.

8. Medical care of adult congenital heart disease.

9. Gene analysis for hematological, neurological and endocrinological disease in children.

10. Clinical research of treatment of frequently relapsing nephrotic syndrome.

11. Clinical trial for child nephritic syndrome, nephrotic syndrome, acute and chronic renal failure, congenital renal disease and renal tubular disorders.

12. Study for the role of apoptosis-associated speck-like protein containing a CARD (ASC) in childhood allergic disease and graft versus host disease after bone marrow transplantation.

13. Diagnosis ant treatment with intractable epilepsy using with the overnight PSG monitoring, ictal video-EEG monitoring, MRSpectroscopy and ictal SPECT, or special treatment.

14. Study of sleep apnea syndrome using with overnight PSG.

15. Clinical trials for acute encephalopathy and acute encephalitis.

16. Development of CHDF, HD and immunoadsorption therapy for child renal, immunological and neurological disease.

17. Development of HFO for the treatment for high risk infant.
