教室の概要
分子病理学部門
神経変性疾患を主体とする脳神経疾患の原因と病変形成機序の解明、新規治療法の開発に取り組んでいる。また、学内外の剖検例・生検例の神経病理学的診断、若手医師・医学部学生に対する教育活動を業務とする。
分子遺伝学部門
遺伝性神経疾患（特に脊髄小脳変性症）の病因および病態の解明とそれに基づく新たな治療薬の開発をめざす。また、repeat expansion disease（脊髄小脳変性症、ハンチントン病、球脊髄性筋萎縮症など）を中心とした神経疾患の遺伝子検査を行う。

2．脊髄小脳変性症の原因と病変特異性の究明
3．多系統萎縮症の病態解明
分子遺伝学部門
1．脊髄小脳変性症、白質脳症の病因および病態の解明、それに基づく新規治療薬の開発
2．神経難病（脊髄小脳変性症など）の臨床評価法の開発、ロボット技術を用いたリハビリテーション
3．酸化的ストレスによる神経細胞傷害の発症機序、およびその防御機構の解明（全身性鉄沈着症である無セルロプラスミン血症をモデルとして）
