Fairul Azhar bin Abdul Shukor is a PhD student of Shinshu University, Japan. He received his B. Eng. Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2002. On 2009, he received his MSc. of Electrical Engineering from the same university. His areas of interest include electrical machine design and drive.

Currently, he is involving designing permanent magnet linear motor (PMLM). The PMLM is design to be implemented as oil palm fresh fruit bunch (FFB) harvesting tools actuator. The FFB harvesting tools called E-Cutter. In order to design the E-Cutter actuator, the PMLM should have at least 200 N in term of average thrust, Fave and total weight below than 2.0 kg.
