Shinshu University is pleased to announce a special exhibition and public relations event for J-PEAKS (Program for Forming Japan’s Peak Research Universities) at the upcoming 2026 Matriculation Ceremony on Saturday, April 4th.
J-PEAKS is a national initiative designed to support regional core universities and institutions with unique strengths. It empowers them to expand distinctive research internationally and address critical challenges both locally and globally. Through this program, Shinshu University is committed to the SDGs, aiming to become a leading global research hub that solves water-related issues around the world.
As a tangible example of scientific innovation meeting society, we will be selling "Irohado Oyaki" (Japanese stuffed dumplings) made using "Shindai Crystal." This water purification technology is one of the primary technologies driving Shinshu University’s J-PEAKS project.
"Shindai Crystal" is an advanced technology that selectively adsorbs and removes unwanted impurities while preserving the essential natural minerals (such as calcium and magnesium) that define the local water's flavor. By integrating this technology into the production process, we maximize the local water's characteristics, enhancing the savory richness of the fillings and the aromatic flavor of the dough.
This initiative was previously showcased at the World Expo in Osaka. At the ceremony, we invite you to experience firsthand how our research is implemented in society and intertwined with regional culinary traditions. Please come and "taste" the results of our innovation.
Let’s work together to think about concrete, eco-friendly actions we can take starting tomorrow.
"From Water, From Myself"
