PDF The Characteristics of Body Composition as Health Index -Comparison of Aerobic Capacity Between Obuse Children and Adults-

【Supercategory:7. DESCENTE SPORTS SCIENCE Subcategory:7.2 Vol.2

 The purpose of this study is to clarify the difference of aerobic capacity and blood cholesterol level between obuse boys and adults. Seven obuse boys and eight adults were examined in this study.
The following results were obtained;
1) Their mean Ponderal Index (Ht./₃√Wt) were 39.8±1.37 and 38.7±0.7, respectively and there was no significant deference between two groups.
2) The somatotype of both groups was mesomorphic endomorph.
3) There were significant deference of T.B.W. (Total Body Water) and fat mass between two groups, but % of body fat was same high level. (35.4±3.37, 35.3±2.35)
4) The level of VO₂max/kg of both groups were less than that of standard Japanese people of same age groups, althought Adults' VO₂max/kg was less value than that of children's.
5) Total cholesterol level was almost same level, but HDL chol. and HDL chol./Total chol. were higher in children's group than adults'.
 These results suggested that obesity reduce aerobic capacity and make more effect on adults than children. The difference of cholesterol level between two groups showed that obesity was more effective on cardiovascular system of adults' people than children.
