23.03.06

In order not to cease cooperation with overseas partner universities even in the COVID-19 pandemic, Shinshu University School of Medicine conducts international research communication utilizing ICT. On December 5, 2022, the Shinshu University School of Medicine and the Institute for Biomedical Sciences jointly held the fourth online research exchange meeting (the 15th International Seminar) with Kaohsiung Medical University (KMU) in Taiwan.
Prof. TANAKA Naoki and Prof. Shih-Feng Cho, who are in charge of international research/educational cooperation between the two medical universities, moderated the event, and about 60 medical students, graduate students, and faculty members participated from both universities. From Shinshu University, Dr. Li Ying (Department of Aging Biology, Supervisor: Assistant Professor MIYAHARA Hiroki), Dr. HOSOMI Kento (Department of Molecular Pathophysiology, Supervisor: Associate Professor HOSODA Hiroshi) presented their research results, and lively discussed between the two universities.
In the invited lecture, Associate Professor MORI Masayuki (Department of Aging Biology, Institute for Biomedical Sciences) gave a talk on "Cataract research utilizing an animal model =From gene cloning to translational research=" and deepened my knowledge of cataract research using model animals.
We hold research exchange meetings with KMU twice a year. With each meeting, we rejoice the reunion, relax, and discuss frankly. We will continue to strengthen research communication and cooperation with KMU. Shinshu University School of Medicine intends to implement this approach with KMU and other partner universities and offer our students and doctors the opportunity to learn global trends of clinical medicine and biomedical research.
