Shinshu University will conduct public relations activities to promote "J-PEAKS," which is being driven by our university, during the FY2026 Open Campus.
J-PEAKS is a national initiative that supports regional core universities or universities with strengths in specific fields to undertake the international expansion of distinctive research and to address challenges faced by local, national, and international communities. With a core focus on pioneering materials research related to water purification and water-derived hydrogen energy, our university will lead the resolution of water issues confronting both the world and our region. Through this project, we aim to play a role in the global research university group and work toward realizing a sustainable society.
In addition to showcasing the initiatives of this project, as an example of cutting-edge technology successfully achieving social implementation, we will sell oyaki (stuffed dumplings) from "Irohado," which has introduced "Shindai Crystal" water purification technology—one of the core technologies of J-PEAKS—into its manufacturing process.
"Shindai Crystal" can selectively adsorb and remove unnecessary components dissolved in water, while retaining the natural mineral components (such as calcium and magnesium) originally present in the local water that serve as the source of its delicious flavor. By incorporating this advanced technology into the oyaki manufacturing process, the unique characteristics of the local water are utilized to their fullest, further enhancing the savory flavor of the ingredients and the aromatic fragrance of the dough.
"Irohado" Oyaki Sales Schedule:
- Saturday, July 18: Shinshu University, Matsumoto Campus
- Saturday, July 25: Shinshu University, Nagano (Engineering) Campus
*Please note that sales will not be available at campuses other than those listed above.
