Shinshu University held a session themed “Saving the Planet through Science and Technology” at the Science Summit 2025, held alongside the United Nations General Assembly, in September 2025.
Led by the Aqua Regeneration Organization, the session introduced innovative technologies aimed at addressing global challenges, including water purification technology using a crystalline material known as “Shindai Crystal” that removes heavy metals and other contaminants, as well as artificial photosynthesis technology that produces hydrogen from sunlight and water.
The session also emphasized the importance of social implementation of these technologies and international collaboration—such as water purification support initiatives in Tanzania—and called for concrete actions toward a sustainable future.
