English Camp Goes GLOBAL 2024
On December 21, "English Camp Goes GLOBAL 2024" was held at the Matsumoto Campus of Shinshu University! It was a global day filled with various activities where Japanese and international students enjoyed using English together.
Icebreakers
We started with icebreaker activities, including self-introduction bingo and a card game called Snake Oil. Snake Oil is a challenging game that gives students a chance to express their ideas creatively in English.
Despite some difficulties, it was impressive to see the students trying so earnestly to communicate their thoughts, and their friends listening with such enjoyment.
Student Stories
We had a session where four students shared their experiences of studying abroad. The stories from Malaysia, Canada, Sweden and Thailand were vivid and engaging, and sparked many questions from the audience. Through the Q&A session, participants gained a real and relatable perspective on life abroad.
Design Thinking Workshop
In the afternoon, students formed mixed groups of Japanese and international participants for a workshop. Based on the theme of multicultural exchange, the groups discussed challenges faced by international students in their daily lives and brainstormed solutions. During the final presentations, many practical and creative ideas were proposed.
The event provided an opportunity for participants to enjoy cultural exchange and communication in English, while making new friends across faculties and year levels.
