Shinshu University enters into an academic exchange agreement with Universite Toulouse III - Paul Sabatier and Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology

On August 3, 2015, Shinshu University entered into a three-way academic exchange agreement with Universite Toulouse III - Paul Sabatier and Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology. The signing ceremony was held in the traditional Japanese setting of Okunitama Shrine's Umetake no Ma, and was attended by Bertrand Monthubert, president of Universite Toulouse III - Paul Sabatier, Tadashi Matsunaga, president of Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, and Kiyohito Yamasawa, president of Shinshu University, along with a number of related people from all three universities. During the ceremony, the three universities expressed the shared vision of facilitating proactive exchanges utilizing a wide range of research fields.

Exchanges between the three universities have already been taking place for many years, centering mainly on Professor Patrice Simon of Universite Toulouse III - Paul Sabatier, Professor Katsuhiko Naoi of Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, and Professor Wataru Sugimoto of this university. They have built up lasting relationships of trust through a diverse series of initiatives aimed at fostering exchanges. These include holding collaborative research, staging international conferences and hosting graduate students. In the 2014 academic year, Professor Patrice Simon was invited to Shinshu University as a distinguished visiting professor. Through a series of meetings concerning joint research held between the three parties, a robust framework for cooperation was put in place.

It is hoped that this agreement will help foster even firmer collaboration between Universite Toulouse III - Paul Sabatier, Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology and Shinshu University, as well as generate groundbreaking research in the fields of energy storage, materials science and other related areas.
