Skip Pedicle Screw FixationGraduate students studying on a daily basis for the development of new therapeutic drugs The Shinshu University Spine Group was one of the first university hospitalresearch teams to introduce the navigation system to spinal surgery in 1996,a hybrid operating room with a navigation system in a comprehensiveadvanced medical building in 2018. We have also performed basic researchon scoliosis and endoscopic spinal surgery utilizing 3D printers, incollaboration with associate professor Michihiko Koseki of the faculty oftextile science and technology at our university. New and less-invasivesurgical procedures for scoliosis, and the S-line (Shinshu-line), a newindicator for fusion area, have also been studied. In addition, joint clinicalresearch on lumbar intervertebralfusion with Yamanashi University andHamamatsu University School of Medicine is ongoing, as is joint researchon musculoskeletal epidemiology with our rehabilitation department.Cancers in the orthopedic field are often called "rare cancers" because of their lowfrequency of occurrence and small number of cases. As a result of their rarity, thedevelopment of diagnostic / therapeutic methods is still lagging, and many patientsis engaged in theface unfortunate consequences. Shinshu Universitydevelopment of new therapeutic agents for malignant bone tumors, methods toefficiently deliver anticancer agents o tumors, and new diagnostic criteria formalignant soft tissue tumors. In the clinical field, we are studying bone morphologyevaluation using CT images for the prevention of pathological fractures due tobone metastasis and lower limb muscle strength, in addition to the prediction ofpostoperative function in patients with malignant soft tissue tumors.Bone morphology analysis using CT images to predict fracture riskStudy of Scoliosis Correction Stress SimulationMuscle force measurement using hand held dynamometer/isokinetic dynamometerAnalysis of sugar chain-related gene expression in malignant soft tissue tumors Evaluation of bone morphology using CT imagesLower limb muscle strength and predictive postoperative function of patients with malignant soft tissue tumors・Stress simulation for scoliosis correction・New surgical treatment for early onset scoliosis・New surgical treatment strategy using the “S-line (Shinshu-line) ” for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis・Relationship between spine sagittal plane alignment and motor function/cognitive function・Development of safer and less-invasive surgery for scoliosis・Determination of optimal fusion area by the type of curve in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis・Facilitation of a longer, healthy life expectancy in a super-aging societyOrthopedic surgeons are fully trained in the diagnosis and treatment of spinal diseases, including deformities and trauma. These specialists can perform cutting-edge research anywhere in the world. • Development of new drugs for malignant bone tumors•••Cancer research in the orthopedic field is relatively underdeveloped comparedto other areas of oncology, and research themes remain abundant. Byestablishing new therapeutic drugs and treatment systems, we can still help to"create the future" of patients suffering from cancer.Because few doctors specialize in orthopedic oncology, learning in this groupcan provide the potential for you to become an expert in both research andclinical fields. You can aim to become doctors and researchers who can beactively engaged with the world.22 Presenting new findings and treatment in spinal disease and deformity to the worldFor the future of patients suffering from rare cancers 2024-2025 医学科研 究 紹 介
